Continue north on Old Mine Road. After 1.0 miles turn Left into parking area. The weathered white building is old Calno School. Note: Reaching mile marker 9 indicates having gone too far. Map
Open daily from dawn to dusk. Parking is on the grass.
| |  Enjoy a change of habitat from deep forest and river edge to field and forest edge. Walk the fields anytime or the road edge at times of light traffic. This area is good for Yellow-billed and Black-billed Cuckoos as well as Cerulean, Yellow and Blue-winged Warblers. Across Old Mine Road scan damp field edges along a woodland line for American Woodcock. This well-camouflaged bird uses its sensitive prehensile bill tip to probe for earthworms in the damp soil. For yet another habitat, walk 0.3 miles north and scan the swamp on the left side of the road. This stop is a reliable area to sight black bear foraging, so be alert.
