Stop and ScanSITE DESCRIPTION:  This is an especially active site for spring migration because of the convergence of the Kittatinny Ridge and the Delaware River. During spring it is possible to see 20 species of warblers in one day, and it is possible to see many of the area’s specialties right from the parking lot. . The locale supports breeding Cerulean and Parula Warblers and it is also a great area for thrushes, particularly Swainson’s and Wood Thrushes. Listen for the loud drumming of the showy Pileated Woodpecker. An occasional porcupine may plod by. At times when wildlife traffic is slow, a careful stroll along Old Mine Road can be rewarding. To explore down by the river take a trail that begins in the left-hand corner of the parking lot. An old railroad trestle allows for a river overlook. Bald Eagle may be seen any time of the year; spend time early in the morning and at dusk to see the playful, sleek river otter.
