Return to Old Mine Road and turn Right. After 1.6 miles turn Left at stop sign to continue on Old Mine Road. After 0.2 miles there is a parking area on the Left. The driveway to the parking area is deeply rutted so use caution. Map
2a) To Second Access Point Turn Left out of parking lot. After 0.7 turn Left into second parking area. The trailhead begins at the gate. Please do not block access to the gate.
| | The first parking area is a fishing access to the Flat Brook; there is a short trail along the Flat Brook to its confluence with the Delaware River. Note the mature sycamore trees in their typical woodland and streamside habitat. Be aware this is not an official park trail.
At the second access point, open fields interspersed in the woods are perfect for butterfly and dragonfly lovers. Look for Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, Spicebush Swallowtail, Black Swallowtail, American Copper, Compton Tortoiseshell and Juniper Hairstreak, along with dragonflies, such as Common Whitetail, Green Darner, Swamp Darner, Black Saddlebags and Halloween Pennant. Note this access is an old road, not an official park trail.
